Brandywine Virtual Academy

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why take an online course?
A: Online courses let students earn credit (original and make-up) as their schedule permits. In addition, online learning develops the skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century, including: self-directed learning, time management, problem-solving, information and communication technology literacy, creativity and global awareness. Classes are available 24/7, so students may complete work at any time of day that is convenient for them.

Q: How do students enroll?
A: Students may register through their school guidance office or on their own by contacting BVA at 484-237-5250 or via email at bva@cciu.org. However, before enrolling, students need to discuss this option with their school guidance counselors to determine the appropriateness of the course and their school's credit acceptance policy.

Registration is ongoing throughout the school year. However, space in each course is limited. Regardless of the start date in a course, students are required to complete their course work by the end of the semester.

Q: Who may apply?
A: The Brandywine Virtual Academy is available to all secondary students residing in Pennsylvania, as well as non-resident students who receive the approval of their school district of residence.

Q: What is Tuition?
A: The tuition fee depends upon the credit value of the course, and whether or not the student's school district of residence supports enrollment. Contact the Brandywine Virtual Academy for more information.

Q: What type of computer and Internet connection is required?
A: Any computer with a web browser and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) will work. A dialup Internet connection is sufficient, but a broadband connection (cable, DSL, FIOS) will make for a more satisfying experience for the student.
